Today was my second visit to Simonton Elementary and today I was able to do my 1st read aloud! I was so pysched! I enjoyed it so much and I hope to return to do more. Today, Mr. Flemish was holding his first Breakout EDU for his SWAT team. The SWAT team is a group of students who help out in the media center after school. Mr. Flemish did not purchase a kit for the Breakout EDU. Instead, he purchased all of the parts separately and saver over $50 by doing so. We staged the room which was an old professional development room that is no longer in use. He hopes to expand by purchasing more kits so that whole classes can compete. He also wants to do it for the faculty. In addition, he gave me a great idea to do it for our new teacher orientation, "You can use the map of the school as a document to help the teachers become familiar with the school" -Mr. Kyle Flemish
I was also introduced to two great apps. One of the apps allows you to create your own story books.

Five classes visited the media center today for book checkouts and two classes received instruction on the research databases. Needless to say it was a busy day! I was able to help out with the instruction by assisting students while Mr. Flemish showed them Culture Grams and an animal database.
