Finding a Mentor

Finding a mentor was a little difficult. Some of the media specialists that I worked with in the past were hesitant to take on the role. One of the people I asked said that she felt she was too inexperienced. I was a little upset at first but then I realized this is a big responsibility. I reached out to our Media Services director and she recommended two of the best. These two mentors were excited about

me working with them. They sent me dates and activities. Then, I received notification from financial aid that I might be withdrawn and I was really worried. I had to submit extensive documents from my taxes and I had to work with the IRS. This involved me being on the phone on hold for 3 hours every day for two weeks waiting to talk to someone. Their website was not user friendly and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I wrote an email on several days to Dr. Green explaining why I was going to withdraw but I never sent it . I just kept hoping and praying this issue would be resolved and yesterday it was. So, now I can focus on the work. I am so excited but a little overwhelmed. I am a full time media specialist now in my second year. This is my last class and I have put this class off for a year and a half. I am ready to complete this class so that I can be fully certified. I hope to learn new things although I have learned so much from on the job training. Let the journey begin!
